In June of 2005, on the banks of Seneca Lake, Zugibe Vineyards began as 23 acres of vinifera wine grapes. Since then, it has grown to 40 acres, comprised of 11 different varietals, including Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Merlot, Lemberger, Sauvignon Blanc and Grüner Veltliner.
The goal of Zugibe Vineyards, however, has remained constant: to produce innovative, complex, and delicious wines.

Frederick T. Zugibe III
Frederick Zugibe III graduated from the University of Rochester and had originally intended to become a physician like his father and grandfather. However, the family has always been interested in food and wine and eventually began to share a collective passion for starting its own winery, which led Fred to enology and viticulture studies at Brock University in St. Catherine's Canada.
Fred's general philosophy is that production of the highest quality fruit is essential to good wine, in turn using simple, traditional winemaking practices rather than un-manipulating the unfinished product. Nearly ten years later Fred's business and winemaking practices still stands strong. Currently Zugibe Vineyards is known for its estate grown and high-end vinifera wines.
